Behind the Scenes: The Making of Our Swimwear
At Desert Sage Swim, every swimsuit tells a story. From the first spark of inspiration to the moment it arrives at your doorstep, each piece is thoughtfully designed and created with you in mind. Today, I'm taking you behind the scenes to show you how your favorite swimwear comes to life!
Step 1: Inspiration & Design
It all begins with a dream—a vision of the perfect swimsuit that combines style, comfort, coverage and confidence. My design process starts with the most important thing:
• Feedback from YOU, my valued customers!
Once I get all of your individual feedback, I start sketching designs and finding patterns and colors based off of what YOU are looking for as well as find styles that flatter every body type, ensuring a mix of timeless silhouettes and new trends!
Step 2: Choosing the Perfect Fabrics
Fabric selection is key to creating swimwear that looks AND feels amazing. I prioritize materials that are:
• Durable: To withstand sun, salt, and chlorine!
• Soft and Comfortable: For all-day wear while remaining buttery soft!
• Safe: UPF 50+ is a must for all swimwear to provide additional protection from that harsh sun
Step 3: Crafting the Details
The magic is in the details! From adjustable/supportive straps to coverage that matters, I consider every element to create swimsuits that fit like a dream. I design swimsuits to perfect:
• Seam placements for comfort and style. An example is our Miley Shorts, designed to not give you camel toe!
• Flattering cuts for different body types. Not all bodies are shaped the same, providing different types of tops and bottoms are a MUST!
• Unique accents like prints, ruching, or hand picked hardware that go on the adjustable straps!
Did you know? Each swimsuit I make goes through multiple prototypes before it’s finalized. I believe perfection takes time! No need to rush something that isn't totally perfect.
Step 4: Production with Care
I partner with ethical manufacturers who bring my designs to life. I have formed great relationships with every one of them. Each piece is carefully sewn, inspected, and tested to ensure it meets quality standards.
My commitment to ethical production means fair wages, safe working conditions, appropriate PTO for those needed days and a focus on sustainability.
Step 5: From Me to You
Once your swimsuit is ready, it’s lovingly packaged and shipped directly to you, from my own home! That's right, I don't drop ship OR ship from a factory/warehouse. It comes straight from my kitchen table. I hope that unboxing your order feels like unwrapping a little piece of paradise and every package is anticipated with joy!
